 is there anything i can claim as my own

any piece of art i devoured i didn’t pawn off on anyone that would listen

anything uniquely mine 

that never made it to your ear 

anything i’ve done for me

that hasn’t been twisted into a story desperately asking to be validated as interesting or unique 

day after day the memories flow from my mouth to the closest bystander
